What can I expect in the first session?
I have a thorough consultation form that helps me gather lots of information so that I can fully understand your pain and your reason for coming for a massage; this will take up to 30 minutes. I also run through some simple movements with you to check range of motion, and carry out a postural assessment, so the first session lasts 90 minutes to allow for the consultation followed by your full treatment.
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing: underwear that you are comfortable in. For the postural assessment I will need to look at your spine and other joints, so it might be worth bringing a pair of shorts and a close fitting crop top for comfort. For most sessions I ask you to undress to your underpants - you will be covered with towels at all times. If you are having an Indian Head Massage then you will remain clothed during the massage, so wearing loose, comfortable clothing is important.
Will I be covered up during the massage?
What will the massage be like?
How many massages will I need?
How can I pay for my treatment?
Is there parking?
How do I book an appointment?
Yes, I use towels to cover you up throughout the massage. The only part of your body showing will be the part that I am working on. I also have blankets if it is chilly. I leave the room while you change and only return once you are ready under the towel.
I use a range of techniques to suit your needs, some of them are very relaxing and grounding, some will be more specific on a particular muscle. When I touch on a trigger point you might feel some discomfort, but we discuss this during the treatment and work to disperse these trigger points, therefore ridding you of your pain.
This very much depends on your situation and pain. Some people only need a couple of sessions, but I tell my patients that it usually takes up to six massages to be pain free. After that time you might like to come occasionally for maintenance sessions if you feel your symptoms might return.
You can pay by cash or card, with my card reader.
Yes, street parking is ample and free, but is restricted between 9-10am and 1-2pm, at other times it is unrestricted. There is free parking on my driveway.
